HubSpot vs Nimble CRM: full comparison and which to choose
Nimble is a simple relationship CRM for small teams working in Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. HubSpot unites marketing, sales and service. Here is which to choose.
If you are a professional or a small team managing relationships from Outlook or Gmail and you want enriched contact records without the effort, Nimble CRM is a simple, pleasant option. If you are looking for a platform to attract, sell and serve customers with processes that grow with the business, HubSpot is the better choice for most companies. Here is the detail.
Quick verdict: Nimble stands out for relationship management, contact enrichment and its integration with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. HubSpot wins on marketing, structured sales, service, automation, AI, reporting and ecosystem, and it does so on a single CRM that keeps pace with the business as it grows.
What are Nimble CRM and HubSpot?
Nimble is a US-based CRM founded by Jon Ferrara, one of the co-founders of the well-known GoldMine CRM. It describes itself as a relationship CRM for small teams working in Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. The idea is to bring emails, meetings, social profiles and company data together in one contact record, with very little manual work.
Its best-known piece is Nimble Prospector, a browser extension for capturing and enriching contacts from LinkedIn, websites and email. It is sold mainly as a single per-user plan, with a free trial and email marketing as an add-on.
HubSpot is a customer platform built on Smart CRM, with Marketing Hub, Sales Hub, Service Hub, Content Hub, Data Hub and Revenue Hub, plus Breeze as its AI layer. You can start with the free tools and switch on only the hubs you need.
CRM and data model
Nimble revolves around the contact and the company: a single record that combines communication history, social data, notes, tasks and deals. Tags and custom fields let you segment. For managing a network of relationships, it is clear and practical.
HubSpot offers contacts, companies, deals, leads, tickets, products, quotes and custom objects on higher editions, with labelled associations between them (decision maker or billing contact, for example). That lets you model more complex processes, such as subscriptions, contracts or projects, and use them in automation and reporting.
Which handles contacts and relationships better?
This is where Nimble shines. It builds contact records from your inbox and calendar, enriches them with social profiles and company data, and Prospector lets you add contacts from almost any website in one click. For people who sell through relationships, networking or consulting, it is very convenient.
HubSpot also logs emails and meetings automatically once you connect your inbox and calendar, enriches company data and has an extension for Gmail and Outlook. On top of that, every contact carries its marketing activity (forms, page views, emails opened) and its support tickets, so the record tells the customer's whole story, not just the sales conversation.
Which is better for the sales team?
Nimble includes deal pipelines, tasks, reminders and visual stage-based workflows for sales or other processes. It also lets you send personalised group messages from your own mailbox, plus email sequences. That is enough for a simple sales cycle.
In user reviews, pipeline and reporting depth often come up as what teams miss most as they grow. Sales Hub covers that ground with sequences, a prospecting workspace, lead management, a meetings scheduler, calling, quotes, forecasting, playbooks and team permissions. Marketing: the big difference
Nimble offers group messages sent from the user's own mailbox, email sequences, lead capture forms and email marketing as an add-on. It works for personalised communication on a small scale.
Marketing Hub is a complete platform: forms, landing pages, emails, marketing automation, segmentation, lead scoring, ads, social media, website content and revenue attribution. It all runs on the same contact the salesperson later sees, so you can measure which campaigns generate business, not just clicks.

Customer service
Nimble does not include a help desk or ticketing, so if you provide support you will need another tool. Service Hub adds a shared inbox, tickets with SLAs, a knowledge base, surveys, a customer portal and AI agents to handle enquiries. Sales and support see the same record, which avoids surprises at renewal and in cross-selling.
Automation
Nimble workflows let you automate actions such as sending messages, creating tasks, tagging contacts or enrolling them in sequences based on stage. It is useful automation, focused on relationship follow-up.
HubSpot workflows run on any object, with conditional branches, delays, owner rotation, webhooks and custom code on higher editions. You can orchestrate the handover from marketing to sales, onboarding after signature, alerts to finance or data updates between systems. It is business process automation, not just follow-up.
Artificial intelligence: Breeze vs Nimble's AI
Nimble includes an AI writing assistant for emails, group messages, sequences and Prospector, along with contact enrichment. It helps you write faster and keep records more complete.
Breeze offers considerably more. Breeze Assistant answers questions about your data, prepares meetings, summarises conversations and creates content. Breeze agents carry out complete tasks, such as handling customers in chat, researching accounts for prospecting or generating marketing content. And because everything lives in one CRM, the AI works with the customer's full context.
Reporting and analytics
Nimble offers dashboards and reports on activity and pipeline. For a small team that is enough, although reporting is one of the areas users most often describe as limited as the business grows.
HubSpot lets you build custom reports that span marketing, sales and service, management dashboards, sales forecasting and revenue attribution. Data Hub adds data quality tools, two-way sync with other systems and datasets for advanced analysis.
Integrations and API
Nimble integrates natively with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, connects to other apps through Zapier and has an API. That is its natural habitat, and it does it well.
HubSpot also integrates with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, and adds one of the largest marketplaces in the industry, a full API, webhooks, private apps and UI Extensions. If you need to integrate HubSpot with your ERP, invoicing or product, there are more routes and more support.
Which is easier to use and roll out?
Nimble is easy to get started with, especially if your team already lives in Outlook or Gmail: connect your email and the records build themselves. It does not need an implementation project.
HubSpot is also very easy to use and enjoys high adoption, with free training through HubSpot Academy. Because it covers more processes, it is worth implementing methodically: well-designed properties, pipelines, permissions, automation and integrations. With a phased approach, the sales team is usually up and running within a few weeks, and other departments join on the same foundation.
Total cost of ownership
Nimble is sold mainly as a per-user plan, with a free trial and email marketing as an add-on. HubSpot offers free tools plus Starter, Professional and Enterprise editions per hub and per seat. Check current pricing for HubSpot and Nimble.
For a fair comparison, add to Nimble the tools you would need for advanced marketing, support, management reporting and integrations, plus the time spent keeping them connected. With HubSpot you switch on only what you use and grow within the same platform, with no later migration.
Support, community and partners
Nimble provides its own support and help resources, and its partner network is small. HubSpot offers support by edition, HubSpot Academy, a very large community and thousands of partners worldwide. At Vexco we are a HubSpot Diamond Solutions Partner, with a 19-person team across Barcelona and Dubai where consultants and developers work together.
Security, GDPR and EU hosting
Nimble is headquartered in the United States. If your business needs data to reside in Europe, ask for its data processing agreement and sub-processor list to confirm where data is hosted and how transfers are handled. HubSpot offers hosting in its EU data centre, consent and lawful-basis tools, two-factor authentication and granular permissions.

When could Nimble make sense?
- You are a freelancer or a very small team selling through relationships and networking.
- You work in Outlook or Gmail every day and want enriched contact records without typing.
- You do not need inbound marketing, structured support or management reporting.
In that scenario, Nimble is an honest, simple option. If you are comparing other SMB CRMs too, read HubSpot vs Insightly. But if your business wants to grow its team, channels or processes, starting on HubSpot saves you a migration and gives you a foundation for years.
Verdict: why HubSpot wins
- A complete platform. Marketing, sales, service and content on a single CRM, with no stand-alone tools.
- Structured sales. Pipelines, forecasting, quotes and team permissions designed to scale.
- Marketing that generates and measures revenue. Capture, nurturing, scoring and attribution on the same database.
- AI with full context. Breeze works with the entire customer history and completes tasks through agents.
- Business reporting. Dashboards that span departments, from first touch to revenue.
- Ecosystem and EU hosting. Marketplace, API, partners and the option to keep data in Europe.
How to migrate from Nimble to HubSpot
Nimble is not among the apps supported by HubSpot Smart Transfer, so the migration is done with exports and the Nimble API. These are the key points:
- Clean up first. Nimble tends to accumulate many contacts imported from inboxes and social networks. Keep the ones with sales value and remove duplicates before moving anything.
- Object mapping. Contacts and companies to their equivalents, deals to a HubSpot pipeline and, if you use Nimble workflows for other processes, consider ticket pipelines or custom objects.
- Tags and fields. Turn tags into properties or lists and create custom properties before importing.
- History and activities. Migrate notes and tasks as associated activities; once your inbox and calendar are connected in HubSpot, new activity is logged automatically.
- Automation and integrations. Rebuild sequences and workflows in HubSpot and replace Zapier connections with native integrations wherever possible.
Before
- Enriched but isolated contacts
- Marketing and support in other tools
- Limited reporting
After
- One CRM with the full customer history
- Integrated marketing, sales and service
- Management dashboards
Common pitfalls: importing every contact without filtering, losing the association between contacts and companies, or forgetting to reassign owners. At Vexco we run these migrations with a test on a sample first and a cutover agreed with the team. We explain it on our HubSpot migration page.
